Franklin Hill

A highly populated area of Mattapan along American Legion Highway. Residents debate if this area is more Dorchester or Mattapan. This area is very close to the nature of Franklin Park. Sadly, the mmost well-known landmark is the Franklin Hill projects, where residents have lived with violence, drug-dealing, rat infestation, mold and one of the city's most notorious gangs. The location has been targeted for redevelopment. The Hecht House was originally a training school for immigrant girls in the West End before it was relocated here to become and orphan home and later a community center.
