In 1929, the Boston Number Two Seventh-Day Aventist (SDA) Church School was founded under the direction of Elder Herbert Green, pastor of the Berea SDA Church. The School is currently under the adminstration of Grafton Jones, who continues the tradition of academic excellence. The Berea SDA Academy is governed by a Board of Trustees known as the Berea School Board. The School is committed to the development of the intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social needs of each student. Over the years the school has focused on providing and maintaining a Christian academic environment for its students. A belief encouraged during students' tenure at the Academy is "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path."

To promote the health and well-being of the Haitian community. HAPHI is committed to working with, and for, the Haitian community in the areas of culturally appropriate health education and support, advocacy for access to care, and in creating opportunities for economic development. Programs and services include: peer-leadership program on HIV prevention for adolescents; Adult HIV education; HIV Anonymous Testing and Counseling site; Men's Health programs; Media components (radio and television); Tobacco Prevention and Education for youth and adults; Sexual Assault Prevention and Education; Chronic Disease Education and Prevention; Health Insurance Advocacy; ESL and Citizenship classes.

The Mattahunt Elementary School is located on Hebron Street in a remote area of Mattapan that is surrounded by cemetery land, forested land, and sparsely populated streets. The school is larger than most City elementary schools and serves more than 800 children. It includes a gymnasium, library, and computer labs. The associated community center offers tutoring, arts and crafts, childcare, athletics, Tae Kwon Do, and swimming. Also serves as a Polling Station for Boston Ward 18 Precinct 3.
